Everything in the world is changing faster than it ever has before, and digital marketing is no exception. Some of the marketing techniques that were popular in the last two years are still current, but some of them are already losing effectiveness, and new technologies are leading to new methods that cannot be ignored in today’s ultra-competitive business environment.

Here are six cutting-edge marketing tips that no business owner or digital marketing manager can afford to ignore:

  1. Make sure your websites are optimized for spoken word search queries. Voice recognition software has truly come into its own in the last two years, as it’s been popularized by its use in virtual assistant services like Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, Microsoft’s Cortana and Hey Google. By the end of 2020, the majority of searches will be done by voice search. To optimize your site for voice search, you need to make sure that your site loads very quickly, as this is even more important for voice searches than for text searches. You need to be sure that all your sites are https, which is quickly becoming necessary for security reasons anyway. You also need to think about which questions entered into search engines can be answered by the contents of your website, and make sure that the answers your site provides are short and concise, and preferably a single sentence.

2. Diversify your marketing channels. In the past, many businesses grew successfully with a marketing strategy that focused on one or two marketing channels, but now the marketplace is far more crowded, and every niche has more competitors. Because of that crowding, it’s now advisable, and often necessary, to design a marketing strategy that uses all of the popular marketing channels, or at least most of them. These include social media marketing, banner ads, content marketing, SEO, pay-per-click and growth hacking.

3. Recognize that there are now so many blogs that blogging is losing its effectiveness for attracting new customers, though it can still be great if the content is stronger and more engaging than most, or if it deals with unique subject matter.

4. Podcasting and audiobooks are continuing to be of increasing importance. Podcasting is particularly relevant to marketers because the people who listen to podcasts regularly are considerably more affluent than the average, and they often listen to audio content while driving to work, an activity that makes them less likely to change what they’re listening to or to change to another activity, making them a more captive audience.

5. Video marketing is also still growing strongly, and will likely continue to do so for a long time to come. Younger customers are more likely to consume video content on the internet that older customers, ensuring this trend’s longevity.

6. Conversion optimization is critical. Use conversion optimization services and software, like Crazyegg, which allows you to use A/B testing on your website, primarily your landing page, to get more conversions from your site’s traffic.

Hello Bar is another useful tool that can help you get more of your traffic onto your email list. However it’s done, you need to make sure that the maximum number of your site’s visitors are converted into customers.

Those are today’s digital marketing tips, and I wish you the best in all your endeavors!
